Hey there
I know this question might be a bit odd but the fact is that ive run out of ideas! I love to teach my horse tricks like laying down, bowing and rearing on command ect ect. Im currently in the process of teaching him to fetch a stick and spanish walk (slowly but surely)! If anyone has any cool and quirky ideas for potential horse tricks id love to hear bout them!!!!

Sounds like you have a very smart horse! Have you considered trying to learn reining. That's where your horse is trained to react to the slightest touch of the reigns or movement of the bit. There is also a sport called cutting where the horse forces a selected cow or calf out of a herd and then keep it out for a certain period of time. Then if you prefer to go English there is dressage. I'm not sure I spelled that right or if the spell checker knows it. It involves the rider using very tiny, almost invisible motions of his hands on the reins and of his legs to communicate with the horse what is to be done. When it's done really well, it looks like the rider is just setting there doing nothing.
Hope this gives you some ideas.
Happy riding!

Teach you horse to let you stand on him, then ofter that well there are many things you and your horse can do together.

We had several of the horses in the round coral and the guys were wondering how we were going to get my horse (who was the only tame one) to make everyone go out the gate we wanted, I went over the coral panel and walked on the back of my horse sat down and got everyone out. I should have had a camera to take a picture of the 60 something year old farmer out there with his mouth dropped open so wide a bug could have nested in there lol!! I trained him to ride without anything but leg cues.
It is fun to not only teach your horse tricks but do things with your horse :0)

I'm not into tricks much, but I taught my horse to stand on a tree stump.....about 18 inches across. The other one I thought was cool was to teach them to get the mail out of the mail box.

Equus magazine had an issue with an article about a trick trainer and some tips and ideas. Check out their website, maybe you can find it

Could you teach it to dance? Give kisses? Smile? Count?

Don't forget that in addition to the fun party tricks, you should teach them submission behaviors so they are cooperative when being taken care of by the vet, or grooming, etc. Maybe you dont have this problem. You just try to get them to hold positions that make things safer and easier for the human, also comfortable for the animal. For instance I have been to dolphin shows where they teach the dolphin to lay on its back in the water, then they massage the spot where they would draw blood, so when they really do need blood, the dolphin knows how to make it easy for everyone.

You could teach it to have a conversation with you using gestures that would be funny. Nodding, shaking his head, frumping, making eye contact, swatting tail, tongue out etc. Then work them into a comedy sketch for your friends. They might learn your phrases, or train them to hand signals so they respond as you want no matter what you say.

Just watch this video from a show called Apassionatta. It's an andalusian stallion (well he's really a gelding from what I can see) and the tricks are AMAZING! http://youtube.com/watch?v=669JgdXu-u0

If the link doesn't work look for Andalusian stallion, Apassionatta and you will find it. I only wish I could do this with my horses.

I saw a video once with a horse who knew how to sweep. He would hold the broom in his mouth and push it down the barn isle....maybe you could try that. It nevers hurts to have extra stable help around!
