how come my gta san andreas keeps freezing?

I made it all the way to Las Venturas but along san ferrio it started frerzing here and there. I'd be driving and the music starts skipping or imm be doing something and it totally freezes for no reason? WHY IS THIS and how can i fix it? thanks in advance

this my simple answer..u need to buy new cd. i have that kind of problem alot..there's nothing wrong with ur console. its the cd..buy new 1

Take the disk out and wipe it off. Make sure there are no massive scratches on the disk. Blow dust out of your console with a can of air. This usually fixes the problem.
