can someone explain to me what this is.....

Change the parenthesesed noun phrase to another noun phrase to show possession.

pls give me an example too

1.The wedding anniversary of my parents next year will be a simple family affair.

Assuming that the parentheses are around "The wedding anniversary of my parents"

In order to change that so it shows possession, you'd write something along the lines of:

My parents' wedding anniversary next year will be a simple family affair.


That's my guess anyway!

well where are the parenthesese originally....put them around parents to make it the parents wedding anniversary or put them around family to make it the familys affair

To show possession normally we put apostrophe "s".

So if I had the sentence:

The birthday party for my friend next week will be lots of fun. In order to make it possessive it would be:
My friend's birthday party next week will be lots of fun.

See if you can do that for your sentence.
