It looks like a lump.
The cyst is an encapsulated object that is it is like a globe under the skin. You only see the top half and it is often palpable ( movable) Initially it may have no pain associated with it. But that is not always so.
Cysts that occur in the armpit can be aggravated by the seam of a shirt or blouse and cause extreme pain when they grow large. They are filled with a cheesy substance ( sebum) and can become infected. Ovarian cysts are painful as the grow and stretch the organ they are attached to the nerve endings are affected and give rise to the pain.

All are treatable, external by lancing and draining. Internal by surgery

It depends on where the cyst is. If you have an ovarian cyst, it can rupture and that would cause pain in your abdomen area. I have some small tissue cysts on my legs and they don't hurt at all. If you are concerned, I would recommend going to a doctor. If you would like more information, go to webmd.com or another similar site. Good luck!

Generally, it depends on where it is.
I've had a cyst on my ovary and it hurts. However... not all of them do. If it puts pressure on a nerve it could cause pain.

What they look like is hard to describe. They're generally sacs containing fluid. Also they can be squishy (filled with fluid) or hard (filled with solid).

My friend has a solid one on her arm and it looks just like a bump ^_^;
