I make up stories too, lol. Sort of a "what if" scenario... then I drift off to sleep... maybe I should do that now! Sometimes I sleep on my side, or on my stomach, who knows. I move a lot.

I make sure the temperature is good (get a heating blanket or mattress pad), make sure it's quiet (wear ear plugs), and then say "there is only one (say your name), and I'm right here, and if anyone is thinking of me, I'm the only one, right here." Then I start thinking that I'm in my bed, my room, my house, my street, my neighborhood, my city, my state, etc until I realize how I'm just one small part of a large universe, and before you know it- asleep!

I usually write for awhile, then go to sleep...If I'm still not tired enough, I listen to music until I fall asleep...Usually classical music, or slower music to try to calm me down.

I had trouble with it in college. I made sure I got plenty of exercise and sometimes took melatonin.

I lie on my stomach and just let my mind wonder. Stories help too.
