Please don't listen to some of these answers or your can seriously damage your health! Yes Tai fighters often deaded their shins by striking trees. Others get the same effect with a rolling pin being used on the shins. These same fighters often die in their mid 30s from massive blood clots. When sparring or using the heavy bag with leg techniques you should be wearing shin pads. Forget the macho crap and protect yourself. It is 100% natural to be awkward on your non dominant side. It's a lot like trying to sign your name with your off hand. As you practice the motion you will begin to get comfortable with it but it may take years to even out the two sides. I've been doing a mixed art of Kung-Fu, Kickboxing and Karate for awhile now and still favor my right leg as superior to my left. Stick with the repetition. Practice a technique on each side an equal number of times and it will come with patience.

Exactly... it's like a party or get-together. Usually I think of square dancing when I hear the word shindig for some reason. According to the source below, a shindig is "a large and noisy party of people".

Not 'shin-dig', the word is 'shindig'.
It is a lively and noisy party.
It is also a synonym for 'shindy' meaning a noisy disturbance or fight.

Both of the words are informal and old fashioned.

(SHIN is the front side of the leg below the knee.)
