What exactly does that mean when you're asking someone to be your Valentine? What kind of status does that bring to the table? Do you go and maybe spread love and joy to the depressed lonely people of the world or something when someone has named you their Valentine?

Being someone's valentine means that you are willing to accept any and all paper objects they give you on February 14th, including hallmark cards, hand made cards, cut out hearts, cute little stars made from straw wrappers, and any other item of trash with a heart, or at least two of the following colors: white, pink, or red.
When your "Valentine" gives you such a trinket, no matter how awful it looks or smells, you must scrunch up your nose, and shimmy your shoulders while saying "Awww, how CUTE! You're the sweetest!" You must then respond by giving the person a candy heart with some appropriate message, such as "Be mine," "Kiss me" "Where's the damn ring?" "Get lost," or "Stop giving me every little piece of trash you find."
In general, the nicer the piece of paper, the better the message on the candy. If the papers include hundred dollar bills, you may want to consider sending either X rated candy heart messages, or getting a lawyer to print up a restraining order on heart candies.
Being someone's valentine can also entail kissing, and making out in public somewhere on February 14th, starting a long term relationship, or getting drunk, and blacking out for the entire trip to, and wedding in Las Vegas.
Ladies, remeber your pills. Men, remember your Trojans. You'll regret being someone's valentine no matter what you do, but lets keep the regrets to a minimum... and spare some potential haloween babies the tragedy of a broken home.

Kind of like, will you be my love? I dont think its really a serious relationship kinda thing, just a fun date kinda thing. Depending on who it is, I mean, if your in a relationship, then of course you have a valentine! You have a Love! Lover!
