I think some of them do -- the ones that live mostly outside. I had a cat once that was indoor/outdoor. When he found a mouse inside the house he just played with it for a while, killed it, and then placed it where I could see it. He sat next to it like I should have been so proud of him!!!!

I don't know if they like to, but my sassy has eaten mice, pet gerbils, and one parakeet. The mice I like him catching it keeps them out of the house. The Gerbils were my fault not making sure the cage was secure when we had an overpopulation. And Arthur was found out the hard way when we learned that he can open the bird cage.

No. They enjoy the chase. Mice are Quick!

Cats are quicker. And they like to prove it to them.

well that would depend on the cat,
i have two cats and a hamster, the cats have never hurt her, when she is in her ball rolling around the house, they will follow her,but if she rolls toward them the cats run away.but when shes out of the ball she can walk around loose my one cat will give her a sniff and walk away,he couldn't care less, but my other will give her a lick and curl up to sleep with the hamster.

Not all of them. My current herd of cats don't care for them. But I had a cat several years ago who not only caught mice, but he also "presented" them to me before he proceeded to chow down on them. Another cat I had used to catch the field mice, then play with the poor things before chowing down on them.

My dog also used to like to catch rats... she didn't eat them... just munched 'em 'til they were dead, then left them for me to find.

Actually yes, I sat there and watched my cat eat a mouse. It was weird because it wasn't anything like I imagined it being, it was more like a swallowing.

Actually they catch them and usually show them to their masters. It's like a trophy and they want your approval. They usually catch them and play with them until they die. Cats will eat them sometimes though. Do you know what the 500 pound mouse said to the cat? "Here kitty kitty. "

My cat not only likes to eat them, but she brings them to the house and is quite proud of herself. Many times she toys with them before the final kill. I guess that is the food chain.
