ya its normal.. i had HORRIBLE heart burn when i was a pregnant. actually Ive never had it until i got pregnant... and even now after i had my little one i STILL get it... not cool... (what wont mommies do for their little ones :} )
but i am not sure if you can take medications for heart burn when you are pregnant... you should ask your doctor.
i just stayed away (as much as i could) from foods that cause it... like spicy, hot, greasy, or citrus foods.
i also hear milk, breads and water help a bit. oh and not lying down for at least 30 min. after eating.

At the end of my last pregnancy (about week 32 on) the heartburn was almost unbearable and kept me up most every night. Tums helped a bit at times, but other than that the only remedy I found was giving birth 7 weeks later :-) It can have to do with what you eat, but in general pregnancy heart burn seems many times unavoidable. You aren't alone, though I know it's so frustrating and painful at times. Ask your dr about it at your next appointment to see if they have any better pointers (though mine didn't). Good luck!

Yes it is normal. See www.twoweekwait.com and click on "early pregnancy symptoms" to read more symptoms you might expect.
As for getting rid of it - Ask your doctor what OTC treatments will not harm the baby, and try cutting out the foods you know make it happen and try not to eat close to times when you are going to lay down. Unfortunately, you may be one of those people that nothing helps, and you'll just have to deal with it until it either goes away, or you give birth!
Have a happy and healthy 9 months!

Hun, unfortunately, this is one of the many 'perks' of being pregnant!! You can look forward to it for the next 37-38 weeks if you're only 2/3 weeks pg!!
Gaviscon is a good remedy, although I have a constant supply of sugar-free Rennie on mail order, which I find more useful!
Good luck and have fun while pregnant!! Just can't beat that pregnant feeling!!

Yup. Definitely. Mine didn't go away the whole darn pregnancy. Milk helped a bit. Tums helped somewhat too.
One thing that will definitely help is not lying down after you eat, and cutting back on greasy foods. Okay, that's two things. :)

Yes it is normal. Your body gives off a hormone that relaxes your esophogus muscles. Tums are ok, I wouldn't take any pills without talking to your doc. Try drinking a glass of milk. Also try laying propped or on your left side.

I got news for you...Heartburn is normal throughout pregnancy, get used to it. If you are lucky, you might not get it often but be prepared. I use Tums and drink milk and try to stay away from acidic foods and spicy stuff.

it'll only get worse if you have it already, normally gets worse towards the end, watch what you are eating as a too spicey diet may be causing this, drinking milk is the best option at the mo and wont harm baby. good luck
