When you have lived for a very long time according to a code of ethics and the persons whom you think are admirable, because they embody the same code of ethics, express admiration towards you, then you feel successful in life.

(To be succeeded means someone else took over your position.)

We as humans are never satisfied, because we have something called Greed. It makes you want more and more, it is a black hole, you can feed it as much as you want but it will never fill up... We might suspect others to be successful because of how rich they are, but truly those people are not necessarily satisfied with their own lives.

When they can look back on their life with no regrets and when they feel love and that they are truly loved back. Personal wealth and possessions should in no way factor in with being truly satisfied in life.

you cannot take your possessions with you when you die so they are only good for comfort, vanity or joy while your alive so, Surely satisfaction comes from knowing at the time of your death that you enjoyed your life, that you loved and were loved, money is just going to buy a better coffin to place in prettier ground
