Singapore's taxi fares one of the lowest as compared to the region and the developed/advanced world. Who is responsible of this problem ? Or is it the taxi companies for the expensive rental rate. Or is it the meter charging and surcharge rates were low ?Can our government help in controlling the prices to help the general public and our taxi drivers ? Are taxi drivers treated like those poor hard labourers that work very hard long hours and earn low wages. What are your suggestions ?

Please note that although Singapore is one of the most developed countries in the world, our wages lag behind many whom we consider less developed than us.
Also, we consider taxi fares here far too expensive these days. The fare from town to my house can feed a small family for an entire day. Yes, it's THAT expensive.

I think we have to look into Singapore's income compared to other countries' income.. Other country can afford to have high taxi fares mainly because their people have higher income, or their cars are cheap so everyone can get their own form of transport easily. Morever the number of taxi companies in Singapore are increasing, doesn't that seems abit strange?
