I honestly think they are one of the most talented teams in the NFL. What those guys need is discipline and better coaching. But if you are looking for O-lineman, Eric Steinbach (Bengals) should be a good choice. Also, getting a defensive guy would not hurt. Lance Briggs (Bears) and Cato June (Colts)...though Cato June is smaller than regular LBs, the guy is very fast, a little of "diversity" in the defense doesn't hurt. As for RBs, Jacobs will just do great there...I don't think Jones (Bears) is better then Jacobs. Eli needs to stop focusing only in Burress while passing (he needs better coaching). He has better arm and accuracy than many other QBs in the NFL (including Peyton), but he needs to learn to be a leader. Drafting a WR or TE should help the team a little also.

Im fresh out of answers on this one.
I think they need to get a veteran running back, and they need to shore up the cornerback position.
Regardless of the fact that they cut those 3 key guys, the cornerbacks SUCKED while those guys were still there.
Personally, i dont think it was fair to cut Arrington, Emmons and (especially) Petitgout based on injuries. How do you sign Arrington to a 7 year deal and then cut him after 10 months?
And Petitgout? THe guy was having a Pro Bowl season when he BROKE HIS LEG. THAT deserved getting cut??
You are right about the huge amount of false start penalties though.
As a diehard Giants fan, im hoping they do some aggressive trades and drafts because i cant go thru another f*cked up season like this last one.

You ignored Colby Rasmus in your scenario, which is a big omission. Wandy, Ricky Nolasco, and Derek Lowe are the most available arms on this list. Actually, Zito could be had for a bag of peanuts probably, but who would want him? I think the Yankees would be wise to stay away from Greinke. He may pitch well in NY for a game, but there's no way that poor kid could handle round-the-clock pressure. He had a breakdown playing for the Royals, so that should tell you about his ability to deal with adversity. If I had to go for anybody, I would target Wandy Rodriguez. He's just entering his prime, seems to have finally found consistency, and is a lefty, something that would play well against the suddenly RHP mashing Red Sox. I'm sure people will disagree with me, but the Yankees don't need another ace. They need a dependable starter that won't get hurt, won't have a psychotic meltdown, and can go deep into games. Wandy is your guy, and since he plays for the Astros, I'm 97% sure they can get him with mid-level prospects.

They certainly are going to have a lot more cap room to work with now because of this. According to Yahoo Sports, they cut Petigout because Dave Diehl did a great job replacing him...that way they could try to extend Shaun O'Hara's contract. Whether or not this actually happens, we will see. If they decided to go after a OL to replace him, here are a few names to watch:
Roman Oben, San Diego
Ryan Lilja, Indianapolis
As far as Arrington and Emmons go, these are going to be hard positions to fill. A few names to watch....
London Fletcher-Baker, Buffalo
Adalius Thomas, Baltimore
Lance Briggs, Chicago
Should be an interesting in the next few weeks.

wow..i just read about them cutting those guys..petitgout was having a great year before he got hurt..and arrington is a beast..i have no clue why they cut these guys..and im extremely disappointed..unless they checked into free agency and these guys can easily be replaced for less money..i thought they should go for an outside linebacker or defensive tackle...and seems like now they have to go for an OLB..im still shocked..i hope this doesnt come back to bite them

What bone head said Jacobs is better than Thomas. lol. Maybe they need to concentrate on LB. They are pretty thin there. Arrington leaving doesn't help...

The G-Men do need to get younger. Coughlin's head is on the block. Do not be surprised if they make a run at Schottenheimer next year if they fail again.

My guess is that the Giants will get Chicago Bear running back Thomas Jones. The Bears seemed to play Benson a lot more, maybe hoping he will become they're starter. As a Bears fan I would hate to see this happen.

The best left tackle available, then take the best RB at the 20th pick.
