evolution chose not to procreate. for example families are being born into lineage with all linkable genetic problems such as heart disease, diabeties, obesity, cancer...just to name a few(Before any religious people get impulsive and ramble on about something i don't care to argue about,....I DO BELIEVE IN GOD AND I DO BELIEVE IN EVOLUTION) ...and for those overzealous religious people "Do you not perceive the chance that by not allowing genetic research such as stem cell as an example; it would harm any future medical chances of selectively creating perfect babys from birth and thereby would be allowing future Darwin followers from saying "I told you so". Thus if evolutionist are correct then "as i believe" somewhere in our future the majority of children born will have some genetic disease or deformity

Our morality is precisely what will doom the future generations. In answering your question, science and medicine are giving us longer lives; however, in doing so, we're speeding up the over-population of our planet. This in the long run will doom us. When places get overpopulated, people start looking to go elsewhere. This causes conflicts and eventually war. It really is unstoppable. As far as genetics go, the fact that we try to save every living being because we are so moral will end up exactly as you stated. Future children born will have some genetic disease or deformity. We save crack babies, we allow two retards to marry and have children, we cater to the special needs of the handicapped, and so on and so on. That is not the way nature works. Only the fittest survive in most every other species, but man and his morals thinks he can change all of this. Arrogantly believing he could do better. We (Man) are our own worst enemies.

The fact that people with these disabilities are able to lead productive lives isn't out of sync with evolution, where only the strongest - and smartest - survive.

Creatures on the lower rungs of the hierarchy aren't gifted with the ability of humans to overcome some of the threats that nature throws at us. That's one of the reasons why we're at the top of the heap.

An argument could just as easily be made that we're genetically predisposed to be susceptible to illnesses like smallpox and polio. By this argument, should we have abandoned attempts to eradicate such diseases? And if those efforts had merit, why should we stop there?

The flaw in your argument is the assumption that the root causes of these problems are insurmountable, but advances in science and medicine during the last century give every reason to believe that this conclusion is premature.

I believe that most of medicine in the US is spent to fix things that are a result of years of self inflicted abuse or an inability to accept that death is part of life

You do not show that there is a notable shift in the number of people born with genetic difficulties, or that more of them are living longer or breeding more often then they were in previous history. The question seems to be based on unsuppoted assumption. There have always been genetic errors, and they may have died sooner or may have been cared for by families and not at goverment expense, so they were not as socially visable. More visable does not equal more of them.

Medicine could also "fix" many third world children that die at heartbreaking rates of illness that could be cheaply cured or for lack of the basic needs of life, or of war. How does their loss affect your gene pool? They are not dying of genetic errors. They are dying because they are so easily ignored, just as they are in your question. They don't have enough money to worry about the impact of heart disease, obesity, or stem cells nor do they stay awake at night wondering about Darwin, evolution, or perfect babies. They stay awake because they have no food.

I worry about future generations that just allow this to continue to happen. When did we get so fat and comfortable that we are looking this hard to find something to worry about? I guess we don't have to feel responsible or guilty about the hypothetical.

we arent dooming people its called being humane and moral. what you are suggesting very easily leads to Hitlers perfect race scenario. Diseases would just evolve alongside us anyways so its pointless to stop medicating and try to start evolving.
