i have two choices that i can't decide between: 1] the first is
godfather ll which was as good if not a little better than the
original. it sustained the great drama tension without missing a
beat and it also, of course, was the only sequel to ever take best picture for an academy award. 2] the other sequel i thought was
great was "silence of the lambs", which was done after 1986's
"the manhunter" based on the book "the red dragon", which was
later made into a poor movie. the manhunter was a low budget
but good film starring william peterson of "csi" fame studying the
serial killer as a profiler. try it one rainy day for fun. thumbs up.

IMO Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan. Far superior to the original movie and more faithful to the original TV series.

personally i cant believe some of the answers.
Empire Strikes back is still one of if not the best sequel ever.
