It is a misconception that people "suddenly care" about Anna Nicole. She's been everywhere already, but not the mainstream news. Tim Rutten of the Los Angeles Times hit the nail on the head in a recent column (linked below; registration might be required): "The mainstream journalistic coverage of Smith's death is among the first such stories driven, in large part, by an editorial perception of public interest derived mainly from Internet traffic. Throughout the afternoon Thursday, editors across the country watched the number of "hits" recorded for online items about Smith's death. ... It's a safe bet that those numbers helped shove Anna Nicole Smith onto a lot of front pages."

Sudden for some. The last Chapter of her life is full of tragedy, and now mystery. She never had it easy, and in some ways can be slightly compared to Norma Jean/Marilyn. As a social figure in the spot-light she was praised for her weight loss, and her ability to be herself, she didn't hide anything.
Celebrities are an extension of our society, and either you like them or you don't.
Anna Nicole formally Nicky Smith, needed love and compassion. Now, her daughter, will need the same.
Where was Howard at? Who gave her access to medication(s), that made her almost catatonic? And her son also? Those are the real questions.

The media is ruthless. They only care about what makes money, what gets ratings and what is shocking. Anna Nicole Smith's death was sudden and shocking and that is why the care. It has all the elements of a good story, mystery, intrigue, love triangles, maybe even murder! It's disgusting that a lot of people only care about a celebrity if they die, but it happens so much!

I know exactly what you mean. I think her life is like a soap opera now. Its gonna be like the next OJ trial. And people are gonna want to know every single thing. And its an opportunity for EVERYONE to make money from this. Even her own family. If she didn't have all this money. She just be another dead celebrity. That is what I think. She is gonna be on the news for a while, and so is her family, and her lovers, and the baby..and everyone is gonna start popping out of the wood works as well. What money makes people do. This has been her life. I don't know why people are so surprised.

That's the cruel irony about life and death. Look how many famous people sold more records and more merchandise, basically becoming more famous, AFTER they died. Why do you think so many depressed teens try to kill themselves? Partially to make the pain go away...and partially because they know that now, everyone will finally pay attention once they are gone. Sad part is, once everyone does start to care, the deceased is no longer able to know about it, because they are dead. Moral: Love people while they are here, in spite of their faults, because we all have them. You never know when they will be gone. It could save their life. Maybe some real love would have saved hers.

I still don't care about Anna Nicole Smith. I don't care much about what the media says anyway. They come in saying that she's the dirt of america, then when she dies, she's a saint. Why? It gets ratings and sells newspapers.

You know I keep hearing the cliche "it's like watching a train wreck" and honest to Gomer it is! You know it's horrible, tragic and ugly and you shouldn't watch but you just can't take your eyes off of it! Anna Nicole's life was a series of ridiculous and bizarre events and her death even more bizarre. One just can't help but wonder what will happen next.

personally it is sad she passed especially for her daughter but the media is exaggerating about the circumstances and it is sickening because even though she may have had problems she was still a person and they are trying to make her out as a bad person which no one can say because they are not her nor did they know her personally while she was alive. fro all they know she was a good person but my guess is they will never know

i personally was home giving her kudos for her weight loss and praying for her strength for the loss of her son and struggles with paternity claims on her new born baby and hoping for a happy ending but now i am saddened that it ended before she had a chance. i think alot of people were doing the same.
