No, but they will be better than they were last season. The Rockies got a nice haul for Jason Jennings and that should help them a lot this season.

The NL West has been choosen by Espn as the toughest division in baseball. The division will play out much like last season will all 5 teams contending for a spot at the top of the standings. Colorado has some extraordinary young talent in Atkins, Holliday, and Hawpe to go along with a proven power hitter in Helton but as is the case with most young teams, they lack the experience to carry them deep into the season. Though they sport possibly the most potent lineup in the NL West they will have to face the pitcher friendly division to the likes of Randy Johnson, Brad Penny, Jason Schmidt, Derek Lowe, Barry Zito, Brandon Webb, Jake Peavy, and the list goes on and on. WE all know that pitching wins championships, so i just dont see the Rockies making a run at a pennant this year.

I'm afraid the Rockies did not do very much to contend, in fact, they will be lucky even to get to a .500 record. With just about every other team in the division helping themselves plus they were probably worse off to begin with, Colorado would have to have made much better deals just to keep up with the rest of the teams. I would have to say that the Rockies probably will have a pretty poor season again this year before they start to turn it around. Lets face it, pitching is the name of the game and the Rockies just have a mediocre staff. Once they start getting some of the talent up from the minors and add some pitchers via free agency and trades, they will turn it around. Until then, Rockies fans will have to be content with a sub par team.

No, I don't think so. The only significant changes are they lost Jennings and got Tavarez and Hirsh.
A lot of things have to happen for them to compete this year:
1. Helton gets completely heathy and once again becomes a threat in the middle of the order.
2. Hirsh or Buchholz has a breakout season.
3. Iannetta and Tulowzki turn out to be studs.

No.
If they had worked out a deal with Boston involving Todd Helton, then maybe, but it just didn't happen. Helton's enormous salary is preventing them from making moves that would benefit the team- but they should have thought of this before opening their wallets to him.
The Rockies & Diamonbacks will most likely battle for the bottom.
