Have been exclusively breastfeeding my daughter for 9 months on. I want to start weaning her now. as you know she refuses to take the bottle. Any suggestions on which nipple will give me a higher success rate? Daddy will replace one breastfeed session with bottle(will try atleast) starting this weekend.

I think that considering that your daughter is nine months old already and has been breastfed for so long it would be easiest for you to start her on a sippy cup. The reason I promote it so much is because it is not only better for her teeth but also she has been nursing and its not likely that she will easily adjust to the nipple. Not only this, by the time that she has adjusted to a nipple it will be time to cut her off of the bottle and onto a cup. So why not just try the cup to cut out problems later on?

My daughter is 11 months old and has been drinking from a cup for almost two months now. Though I still give her a bottle at night, she drinks from cups during the day. She uses the Nuby cups. The spouts are leak proof and made of the same soft silicon used for nipples, except that they are shaped differently. I have tried other cups but this one seemed to be softest from the others and more similar to a bottle -minus the nipple. Anyhow, you will find what works best for you and your daughter will let you know in her own way. So just keep trying different cups or nipples until she gets the hang of it. But also remember that it is important to be consistent. If you want for her to change this habit, then you have to push on and stick with it even when it seems easier to give her what she wants. With time it will be well worth it. Best of luck.

go to a walmart or a store that sales a lot of baby products, test the nipples for softness one that most resembles a breast nipple and there you go, but if she can hold things in her hands i would try to get from there to a sippy, the earlier you get them started on a sippy the better for you and baby considering that if you leave them sucking for too long they could wind up with buck teeth. good luck with the process
