Vanity. Pretty girls are told from a very young age that they are special, and that is reinforced by society. Studies have shown that attractive people receive preferential treatment in almost all areas of life, with the possible exception of medical treatment. Our society worships beauty, and many pretty girls accept themselves to be entitled to that worship, forgetting that they played no part in acquiring their looks. Because others are absorbed only in their looks, they also become absorbed with their own beauty, and fail to develope genuine qualities. Unfortunately, time will steal their looks away from them, and they will be left empty, having nothing to redeem them. The vast majority of us having only average looks understand that it is far more important to develop inner beauty, since we can do nothing about the outward dress except maintain our appearance as best we can.

Insecurity, and a lifetime of being singled out for their physical selves. It takes more character than many of us have to handle being glowed at every time we walk into a room with grace and kindness. Add to this the foolishness of men, which every pretty girl has to learn to handle from early age--I had a couple of female students who told me it starts in maybe second grade--and that nobody else sees but the girl and the perpetrator.
Add it all up, and it can all be quite a burden if you're not equipped to handle it.
My wife says of pretty girls that it's the nice, gracious, kind ones that really irritate her.

Usually because not so pretty girls have to be nice. They arent imediately accepted on looks alone where pretty girls are. Unfortunately pretty girls are able to be mean and nasty
On the bright side they are usually not as good in bed

I don't think that's always true at all. I've known my share of very unattractive girls who have equally unattractive personalities. They are often bitter and jealous when they know they don't get the attention prettier girls do.
I've also known my share of pretty and rotten girls, so I don't think you can generalize.

They can get away with it? They feel like they are always competing?
But even if that is the tendency, there's always an exception to the rule. The nicest girl in my class was also the prettiest. Good upbringing, I think, had a lot to do with it.

I am not sure that is a valid statment.
Some pretty girls are mean, and some are nice. Some are mean because they get by only on their looks, beyond that they are superficial.
I am pretty and I am nice

some ugly girls are mean too. i think it just depends on the way the girl was raised and how much she thinks of herself. maybe pretty girls think they can get away with it
