Why does everyone put these two together? They can say whatever they want, and the public has a right to agree or disagree, correct? When people slam them for what they say, isn't it their right to voice such opinions? Actors and musicians should just shut up and entertain like we pay them too.

I do think musicians have the right to voice their opinions, but if it is unpopular, then they must suffer the consequences. And if people like The Black Eyed Peas, and K-Fed are modern day poets like Sidewinder has said, then farewell to all as the apocolypse is upon us.

True. They should realize that they play no real important role in politics. They're just an opinion. I see Bono and even Dave Mustaine voicing about politics but nothing gets done by their hand. Why would it when I got guys in the government who would make them look exactly what they are. Just two dumb musicians trying to make noise, and get bought out instead.

Actors and musicians have just as much of a right to speak their minds as you and I do. I am a musician - do I not get to speak my mind because I am a musician? That makes NO sense to me - I am entitled to the same privileges every other law-abiding American citizen is - you don't have to like what I say or what I think, but the beauty of America is that YOU get to say what you want and I can't stop you even if I don't like it.

Did you know that a liberal French journalist (that I think is a complete jerk and you will understand why shortly) is the one responsible for the Dixie Chicks problem with all of this? Do you know what they said immediately after their comments about President Bush? This is a QUOTE: "But we support our troops 100 percent". Learn the whole story - it will open your eyes. Now lets buy some eggs and pelt that French journalist with them together! LOL!!!

for sure it wasn't ok to bash Bush and for this reason the Dixie Chicks have been given plenty unfavorable responses for it. human beings will continually take care of themselves and their positions while attacked, as does Bush. that's different from they're saying that's ok to bash Bush yet no longer themselves. they have faith in loose speech basically as much as everyone else, yet they're going to take care of themselves like a number of different man or woman. i do no longer hear to their music or usa music in any respect, or incredibly even care approximately them, yet I did think of it replace into unfair that such fairly some human beings hated them b/c they chosen to particular their freedom of speech. Blacklisted/boycotted.... that's a similar element interior the leisure marketplace. They have been given plenty crap b/c they mentioned something that many usa music followers did no longer like. human beings theory they might not have mentioned what they mentioned; how is that no longer attempting to supress someones loose speech and comments? you're appropriate freedom of speech isn't a 2 way street b/c lots of a similar human beings the communicate approximately how that's probably the excellent issues approximately u.s. had to close the Dixie Chicks up for utilising that appropriate. you may say besides the fact which you go with approximately them and no person is struggling with you purely as they might desire to be allowed to assert what ever they choose approximately whoever they choose. are not getting all mad at them b/c they're protecting themselves, any purple blooded American would do a similar.

Percy Bysshe Shelley (August 4, 1792 – July 8, 1822) wrote: "Poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world."

Artists, musicians, and actors are the modern poets. They affect our world and point of view much more than we think or like to give them credit for. Those things that entertain us are not far from the doctrines they have been preaching all along.

Everyone has freedom of speech, but you also have to be ready to accept the consequences of your opinions. When you depend on the public to support your way of life, you are only hurting yourself if you express thoughts that those people take offense to. You can say what you want to say, but if you are hurting the people who are paying your wages, you may end up suffering the consequences for your opinion. Sometimes it is in your best interest to plead the 5th and keep your mouth shut!

yes, but the public also has the right to agree or disagree with you too - and so on!
Actors and musicians are also public too - and they have a right to agree or disagree - and so on.

Their awards just go to show that the American public is truly against the war, and they were just casting their votes.
