the greatest fear of succeeding is success. Some people can get there but then don't know how to handle it, or can't handle success.

Greatest fear of success come from responsibilities: first of all the responsibility to be a different person, as successes of all types will change your life one way or the other; the responsibility to cope with other people who might have different expectations than the one who came through hardships with flying colours; the responsibility to celebrate, for success means acceptance of great deal of goodness that one need to absorb; the responsibility to share success with other people in collaboration – how much to share; and responsibility not to lose what you have found, and even succeed more, as success can be self-perpetuating; and then not to forget the responsibility to deal with the jealous and narrow-minded all the way along to the end, unfortunately. Besides this, there are many other things. For example, there is hardly any limit to what one should understand as the ultimate in succeeding. There are always more and better things to achieve, more horizons to explore and more frontiers to discover; and to find contentment once you have been on rollercoaster ride could be a major issue with the successful. The fact about human nature is that it is never content with quantity, it always seek quality in everything, once you have made significant achievements in life you need to glorify what you have achieved, for success is synonymous with good – if you are successful then that must mean you are also good.

dude its got to be losing it all. Thats why so many rich and famous people have huge electric gates with cameras at the entrance to their house, security guards. Success brings fear of others trying to take it. Eventually Time takes it as well, which is another fear that always comes true. There is always the fear of losing whatever you have. Material world,
nice queston man, higher pleasure is to be found on another level. above the mental platform. Gouranga Jimmy..

the greatest fear of success is when failure sets in and that there will come a time where it all goes horribly wrong and out of control and you feel as if you have no control or way of dealing with it

Losing its rewards, however and whatever you perceive as success. A very high fear based on a very low probability.
The only way out is to treat everyday survival as success, and anything else as transitory

A STAR question... thanks!!
Some good answers have already come... let me just try adding another perspective to it.
We strive for success to feel more secure but when we achieve it, our level of insecurity actually increases.... on the one hand the success does not seem as much desirable any more as before, and on the other hand, the task of holding on to it adds a new dimension to our feeling of insecurity apart from the competitive dissatisfaction it causes to others egging them on to join hands to work against us.
Every success is like climbing a floor, so that the very increased height itself increases the risk of as well as extent of damage from any unexpected fall.

After achieving one's 'concept' of success, that
it won't be fulfilling. On the outside it looks admirable. In all actuality,it becomes burdensome.
Instead of joy,ya feel anxious, with a 'sense of
dread'in the pit of your stomach.
Serving is a blessing and a priviledge, I'm not always as gracious as I would like to be!

Interesting ques. I think the fear of staying/maintaining the position at the top is the biggest fear of success. They r afraid of the fact that "THE BIGGER THEY ARE, THE HARDER THEY FALL".
As they say, "IT TAKES ABILITY TO GET TO THE TOP, BUT IT TAKES CHARACTER TO STAY THERE." & most people at the top today r (& become) pretty reckless n arrogant in their character.
