Living in Canada, I hear stupid Canadians calling Americans and America and as always, Bush, stupid. There is no other country I would rather share a border with, but after browsing through this site, I can see a large element of Canada bashing from the Americans and vice versa.
Is this perhaps just because I just happen to be reading lots of uneducated, arrogant or tweenage posters, or overall in America is there some hatred towards Canada and thus Canadians? Do Americans think all Canadians hate them for the same reason I discussed above?

Being on Yahoo Answers for a little bit and reading threads about Canada and United States, I have seen many back and forth insults between the 2 countries. I am just wondering if this is a small percentage of Americans, as I know it is only a tiny percentage of Canadians that have a beef with Americans (mostly ignorant people who don't know much about the US or the world in general). I am wondering if this small vocal online community represents the US as a whole, as I know the Canadian community doesn't represent the majority of Canadians.
For the record I am talking about Anti-Canadianism and Anti-Americanism... not just joking.

Sheesh, I don't hate Canada at all. I can't think of many other countries I'd rather have border us. I've never met anyone who seriously disliked Canada, either; anytime a joke was made about Canada it was always in jest. Were the Americans you came across maybe just being sarcastic?

Canada is as diverse and different as the USA. I have been all over western Canada and was totally impressed by the people and the countryside. Most folks do think that Canada is a rocky mountain wasteland. Calgary and Edmonton are in flatlands like Nebraska and not what most people think of. However a hundred kilometers away are Banff and Jasper, which are mountainous and glacier covered areas of the greatest beauty on this planet. I love the USA and I adore our great Canadian friends.

No, I love Canada and the Canadians. I never have as much fun as I do hitting Calgary during Rodeo and the Oil Show. It is the 1% who are immersed in politics that see this as a hatred.
I have an idea. Let's force all of the 1% to live in the Northern Territories with nothing to wear but shorts and golf shirts. Whoever lives can come back and join us for some MooseHeads.

No, Americans don't hate us and I hope to God they never do because otherwise we'll be begging for handouts, literally. It's easy to complain about America because their in the spot light ten fold more than any other country, because they have a difficult leadership role, and their the only ones that are doing anything about crimes against humanity. Everyone else are back seat drivers complaining about anything and everything. But what about dar 4 they say? Well get off your *** and do something about it, don't just complain about it, anyone can do that. It's sad that people take for granted all the pros that America has to offer Canadians and the world. I only hope we don't find out the hard way by becoming their enemies; otherwise, we'll be living like the Cubans do.

I think America has historically had an extremely amicable relationship with Canada. I have never heard anyone disparage Canada or Canadians, other than to poke fun at minor differences in speech ("out", etc.). We make fun of our own Southerners more than we do of Canadians! In fact, when I took my daughter to Detroit for a wedding last year, we made a special trip to Canada so that she could go to another country and get her passport stamped.
Here's what Wikipedia has to say:

To tell you the truth, I wasn't even aware of any anti-American sentiment in Canada. I can't think of a single person who hates Canadians for any reason. Besides, there's enough anti-American sentiment both from other countries, and right here in the US to keep us occupied. I would assume that anti-American sentiment that falls under the category of "people who actually want to kill us" would take priority over people who just dislike us.

I wasn't aware that Americans hated Canadians or vice versa. I think many Americans hate Mexicans more that they would ever hate Canadians.

I personally have nothing against Canadians, but my Republican side(my gut, not my brain) tells me that Canadians are hippies and Frenchies who are socialists, my Republican side dislikes that, it dislikes that a lot, socialism would mean less money for me, and I, of course, am the only one that matters. America is the Greatest, most powerful country in the world and Canada, like the rest of the world is just my little female dog that I can use, abuse and reuse if I feel like it. Since my Republican side hates socialists and hippies, I thus, dislike Canadians.
I must admit that I do dislike Mexicans more, because unlike most Canadians, they speak some language I can't understand and they are not white.
