I came to you without a voice

I know I didn't have a choice, when I looked at you

I just thought you knew

We dated for so long it seemed and tho it did seem quite extreme

I belong to you, and you know it's true

You threw the dishes at my face

Knocked the bowl of fruit all over the place

You hated me... I only thought I'd be.. happy

You killed my soul, and my spirit too

It's one thing I knew I hated about you...

You knew I cared, but you were never there

Chorus:
You haven't figured out it was me who set our beachhouse on fire,

took some kerosene and a frayed live wire

It's just what happens to you if you beat your wife

Next time I'm comin after you with a knife

I think you are just starting to figure it out..

It's why you won't look at me.

Suprisingly, I havent heard you shout

But I think you see...

Chorus:
Finally figured it out it was me...

Yeah, I used to be beaten quite severely by my father, who raped me when I was a kid.. I set the house on fire, and he abandoned me at a shelter (not saying which one). That's where I met the love of my life, and we're still together. I have an amazing life with him.

Oh and I set the house on fire with a candle. I was young, so I just put a bunch of rolled up pieces of paper on his bed, and lit them on fire with a lighter... that's about it.

This is awesome. Inspired by reality? The stanza was good but the Chorus makes the song!!! It was me that "set our beachhouse on fire, took some kerosene and a live frayed wire".

Brilliant!!!!!!1

Wow, that's pretty messed up. Don't see it as a top 40 hit, but somewhere along the lines of Paula Cole feminist outcry, it may find it's place. Good luck!

That's quite good. Whilst I was reading it a tune for it came in my head, so I was actually singing it in my head. Two questions -can you actually sing and would you consider recording it?

I don't know how you could have come up with these words, unless it was first hand experience. I hope it isn't.
