I am beginning to think the bumper sticker was right,

"Ignorance + Arrogance = Disaster"

But I don't know what the answer is, nor do I know what to do anything with the 5% of Muslims, who want the rest of the world to convert, die or become enslaved. The west has forgotten from where their ideas of freedom arose; the Judeo-Christian scriptures. There is a reason why most technology began in the west. I am saddened to see how Iranians lust after atomic weapons---60 year old technology. The Koran is shown to be false by its fruit.

The Christian Evangelicals, 40 million strong, as reported last fall by their own leaders in "Faith and Nation", advocate the violent overthrow of the U.S. government if their "one - and - only - correct - and - pure" set of "virtues" are not made into legislation. The forced imposition of a set of "virtues" or "sensibilities" on others is called "fascism". There are fascists in every faith and tribe of man. To generalize fascist behavior as belonging only to one faith is part of the problem with fascism. It works only when we allow ourselves to be divided and pitted against each other and brought to consider the madness that the world would be all hunky-dory if only everyone believed exactly the same way. Fascism, not Islam or Christianity or Judaism or Hinduism or Buddhism or Atheism is the problem. Give me a pluralistic world where we are all safe to believe in our own faiths. The alternative is fascism. Fight fascism.

Well its not exactly a 60 year old technology. The west still has tons of atomic weapons. ( look at the cold war) rightfully the Iran government see's it as unfair that the west can have all the atomic weapons it wants but they can't. simple back to school yard nonsence. However where Iran is wrong, is that because they have such a horrible record of human rights violation and a sluth of other no no's, they are not entitled by the world community to have such fun atomic bombs. How the world see's it ( or the west) you can have your toys if show you are mature enough not to throw them at anybody.

Also freedom itself has its roots primarily in philosophy from Plato and so forth. The bible if you look through history was used right up to the 20 th century as an excuse to colonize " savage people' hence all that lovely land the west had for centuries.

So be careful to point the fingers just at the muslims. Their philosophy is not new and it's in response to the oppression they are suffering. A lot of it was caused by their own hand, but a lot was not, and violence sometimes does come out of hardship. We will never know if this reaction would have stil come about had we not pushed their buttons so much. I can say this though, it did not help!.

I haven't seen that bumper sticker, but I agree with it completely.

I doubt very much that we will ever "go back to the 7th Century". The figure on the fanatics is more like one-tenth of one percent, and there are a lot of people that would use vast military resources to stop this from ever occurring. A lot of the extremists don't understand something - Americans would rather blow up the planet than become enslaved to an ideology that they didn't believe in. They think we are afraid of death, but we invented the atomic bomb - we ARE death - they should take note of that fact. Attack us and we will anihilate them. They underestimate us completely. Because of this, they will eventually fail... completely.

There will be no returning to the 7th Century unless you've got a suped-up Delorean in your garage! I'm pretty sure we modeled our social experiment after the Greeks.

If it were only 5% it would be (relatively) manageable. It's probably closer to 20% & growing. The rest seem to be either sympathetic to the terrorists or apathetic to the atrocities committed in the name of their religion.
