I could tell that my hymen was broken not only b/c of when I would use tampons and it went in kind of easy but also when sometimes I had to apply medication vaginally. I've not been able to see my hymen with just looking for it even with a mirror but a gyn one time did confirm that I didn't have a hymen. He thought maybe I was born without one. I wasn't. Mine got broken when I had my very first pelvic and pap smear when I was 18. It was b/c the dr used a regular sized examining instrument called a speculum. And yes, I'm still a virgin.

You can see it with the naked eye. It just looks like a thin piece of clearish scar tissue stretched over part of the opening. Like thick saran wrap. If you get a mirror and some light you should be able to see it if it's there, and you should be able to feel it when inserting a finger. If you've been inserting your fingers there is a chance that it's already broken. Some girls are even born without hymens, so you may just not have one. If you use a tampon there's a good chance it's already broken too. Believe it or not most girls hymens break from something other than sex wether it be sports, bicycles, tampons or masturbation. If it is broken you shouldn't feel bad, hymens are highly over rated and it's good to have it out of the way. It has to break sometime.

the hymen can be seen with the naked eye but its very difficult to tell if you're not trained. The hymen can be broken by more than sexual acts, tampons, trauma from exercise or other activities, and some women are born without one. There are websites out there that show pictures of the hymen, its just a piece of tissue that is at the opening of the vagina.

You cannot see the hymen with the naked eye. Generally the only way to tell if it is broken would be with a vaginal exam at the docs office.

only a doc can tell you for sure. A lot of girls break theirs when they are little from falling on that "crotch bar" on bikes. You can also break it with a tampon. It's just a thin membrane so if you broke it you would bleed a little. It doesn't make any diff. though as far as reproduction or sex. No one, not even that special guy, will be able to tell. Also, if it is broken and you've never had sex, you ARE still a virgin no matter what anybody says.

That's silly. Only a proffesional, an OBGYN, or Gynocologist, has the right to say if you have it. You can't ask a friend, even if they're right, they aren't a trained doctor. I don't think you "popped your cherry" from masurbating. Although it has happened to some girls. Mostly to athletic ones who started wearing tampons at a young age, a lot of them don't have their periods as often either because of the lack of body fat. If you're really worried, just go to your doctor and tell her that you want to make sure it's still there. It may be embarassing, but doctors deal with this, and far more embarassing things everyday

A medical examination is the only sure way, because the female body can vary a lot.
