Currently it has been 13 years since they were in the finals which is the longest drought between cup wins for them.
This may be the first decade that the Habs will not win the cup.

Montreal last won the Stanley Cup in 1993. They beat Wayne Gretzky and the LA Kings in the final. It was the series where Demers had Mcsorley's stick measured with just a minute or two to go in the game and montreal down 2 goals. The stick turned out to be illegal and the Kings got a penalty. Demers then pulled their goalie to get 6 skaters against LA's 4 and they managed to tie the game then win in overtime. It was 14 years ago but that's the way I remember it.

the last time the Montreal Canadiens won the Stanley Cup was 1993, and that was the last year a pro sports team from Canada went on to win an NBA, NHL or MLB Championship, same year Blue Jays won the World Series in MLB

The Hav's 1993 Cup victory was the team's last to date and their 24th in franchise history; which is to date an NHL record.

It was 1993. The Habs beat Wayne Gretzky's Los Angeles Kings, coached by Barry Melrose (Hockey's Best Mullet). The Canadiens I believe set an NHL record by winning 10 games in overtime that playoff year, and netminder Patrick Roy won the Conn Smythe Trophy for playoff MVP that year.
