One invents something that did *not* exist before that moment.

Discovering something could be finding something that another person had invented in the past. But the main difference between is the one's degree of involvement, knowledge and certainity about events.
When you are inventuing something you know what you want to do and fair idea of how to get there from the start. Whereas discovery happens due to accident at times. For example: Someday an artist must have spil some colours and the discovered that mixing two colors will lead to another one. So discovery and invention differ in the level of certainity as well..

Discover means to find something that already exists but was hidden from most of the society .
Invention means to make something totally new
like the existance of dinosourus is a discovery but making of steam engine was as invention

Columbus "discovered" America.
One cannot say that He invented it(for it existed even before Columbus found it out).
Wright Brothers "invented" the Aeroplane.
They did not discover it (for it never existed before)
In simpler terms discovery is finding out an already existing thing
whereas invention is the process of making it from scratch.

invention - finding something that never exist
An example as said by a school boy(jokingly):
Dad discovered Mom
Dad and Mom invented me

When any product is invented for eg Television, computers it new to every one and it is made or manufactured. Invention is man made. it never exists.
In case of Discover the things exists but were unknown to the people. for eg columbus discovered america.

Invention&discover is the same thing but means is difference invention means tjings made &discover means search for new things.

They say 'necessity is the mother of invention'. Invention meet a need. U can invent a gadget, vehicle etc.etc.
discovery is a fundamental find, it may not be immediately useful, but it is a truth of nature that is disclosed to us by way of discovery. Based on the discovery, we may make many inventions.
