Get a really nice PDA cell phone. Most have "Speakerphone" option so you can jam your mp3's out loud if you want. Most have pretty big storgae capabilities. (4g) The new apple iphone is supposed to be very much what you are looking for and come in an 8gb format, which will hold LOADS of videos, etc. You can set your background. And since it is a phone, you wont be carrying around pocketfulls of devices all day. iphone releases sometime in June or july.
It will be worth the wait.
Good luck mate!
(sorry sloppy typing)

contrary to what was posted on here about iphone in america, you definetly WILL be able to get the iphone in oz (Does she think its only American? Ignorance blows my mind...), but i just wanted to add that in addition to all the things you were looking for, there are plenty of PDA mobile phones that have fm radio, if thats a must have.. You will get more for your $ combining the two, and i just think the iphone looks nice... Good luck!

Peck C, she mentioned FM radio. The iPhone does not include that, and furthermore is being released exclusively on Cingular with a very sophisticated simlock, which prevents her from getting it.
I'd recommend either the COWON A2 or the Zen Vision W. Both have all the features you've mentioned, and both are excellent players. I've included links to both players in the source box.

Get a Sansa e250 they do everthing, play music, video,, you can upload photos, and it has a fm tuner. However you cant set a background image but its still a pretty good mp3 player and the screens a decent size.

You should get an apple ipod video because you can put music videos on it, movies, audio and video podcasts on it, it is a better brand, it is a very good mp3 player, you can put pics on it and you can buy it all the accesories that you want at a low price.

I suggest going to the cnet site; also epinions may help. I too want to buy an mp3 player, and I have learned (the hard way) to do research before I buy; especially when it comes to electronics.
