this is a good one, lets see. without dirk, the mavs will heave to rely on scoring explosion from josh and terry with stack helping out from the bench. they will most likely provide howard with all the brush screens they usually set for dirk. terry will heve more freedom to drive and pullup/dish and stack will get post up opportunities against raja or marion. their scoring and rebounding may suffer but the mavs are a tough and scrappy team to beat.
without nash, the suns running game will be ineffective with barbosa or raja handling the point. their offense will be reduced to jumpers, stand still 3's, and post-up opportunities for amare. the only way for the suns to win this one is to force the mavs to stretch their defense beyond the 3 pt line. in short, the suns have to convert a lot of 3's to open up the middle for marion and diaw to explore.
in the end, the suns will feel the loss of nash more than the mavs w/o dirk.

What a great question...its so easy to say the Mavericks right now after the Suns have struggled w/o Nash, but I'm sure the Mavericks would struggle just as much if Dirk was out. However, I still think the Mavericks would be the better team in the match up with the Suns. Missing your leading PG will hurt a team alot more than missing their leading scoring. Nash plays a very important role in getting everyone involved and when he's not playing, then the Suns are a little out of rhythm. Meanwhile, the Mavericks have Howard, Terry, and even Stackhouse that could up their scoring load.

Based on the recent play of the Suns w/o Nash, I really think the Mavs would have the advantage. Without Stevie on the court, the Suns are without a true point guard. The only presence the Suns have in the middle is Amare, and he can't beat the Mavs by himself. The depth the Mavs have shines through night after night. They beat the teams they play by double-digits every night!! Dirk is important, but nowhere as important as Nash is to the Suns!!

Phoenix Suns. They have former Rookie of The Year Amare Stoudemire,The Matrix, They also have a deep threat in Raja Bell, And Leandro would start if Nash was not there. The Mav's only have Terry and Howard to get the scoring done. So the Mav's wouldn't stand a chance against the Suns.

Mavs.
Anytime your dominant ball-handler is not playing, it makes it increasingly difficult to run your offense. Phoenix is no exception. Dirk does not handle the ball, Nash does. Therefore, it would be easier for the Mavs to win as they simply lack a scorer, rather then a scorer/initiator.

dallas will win. nash it too important, while dirk though is important,b ut not as important as nash to suns.
nash is the life of phoenix, look at how they struggle when he's not playing.
when dirk was out, dallas could still pull out a W. remember when austin crosshere saved the day ?

Mavs.. Suns don't have anything without Steve Nash.. Dallas has a motre productive bench and better defense. Look at how deep their roster is and you'll see.
