I bought a computer that was a lemon, needed a new hard drive. They had it 6 weeks for this. I got it back, it didn't work, they had it another 6 weeks. They couldn't fix it. I had purchased an extended warranty from Best Buy. They told me they weren't going to fix the computer. They are done with trying. They didn't stand behind this sale or this product. Has anyone else had a problem with Best Buy? They don't even belong to the Better Business Bureau, I found out after the fact. Maybe they were kicked out for too many consumer complaints and then not making it right for the consumer?

Contact your state's Attorney General's office. They have a consumer protection division.http://www.state.sd.us/attorney/office/divisions/consumer/

The geek squad is full of SHYT!
They had my computer said it was the power supply. (I suspected that too) so I turned it over to them to fix it.
I bought the new power supply, paid the install and diagnostic fees and turned it over.
the guy from the geek squad that was to put it in (different guy from the one that told me what it was) called me and said NO way it could be that. He had no idea what it was, claimed to have run all kinds of diagnostics on it and wanted my permission to send it away for more tests.
They sent the computer to the warehouse in Chicago(?) 4 weeks later, they said it was the motherboard and it would cost $258 to fix it not including labor.
I told them to send it back. It was $600.00 new and it was a few years old anyway. So now I am pissed. When I went to pick it up I had to pay for the brand new power supply (which they opened) and TWO diagnostic fees. I MADE them refund the installation so that was a small (tiny) victory!
I was pissed off, so I decided to just buy another computer (Circuit city this time).

My son (age 12) was grounded and for the fun of it he decided to switch the power supply!
Kiss my rectum, that is exactly what it was! I was soo happy I gave him my new computer and I am typing on the computer that he fixed right now!
Did I mention that if THEY would have put in the power supply it was $59.00. My 12 year old did it in 20 minutes (he just stuck the new one in the hole where the old one was and hooked up the wires). FREE of charge.
I wouldnt let that geek squad change the battery in my cordless phone now.

On a more positive note. My dad got my son a PSP for xmas last year.
he bought the extended warranty. My son download a virus onto it. The first time we went to try to get them to fix it, they said that that was not covered! I went to the second store and I was going to get him a new one and asked them to explain the warranty to me....when she did I told her that I didnt need this one then because I have one under warranty. Since she just told me that it was covered. It was hard for her to deny that she said it so she gave me a brand new one (and offered a warranty on that one too ~ I would have to pay for it again of course) but that helped out alot.
So they are not ALL bad so you might try taking your computer (if you have the warranty) to another store.
GOOD LUCK
also go to the website below and lodge your complaint then read about all the other people who have had problems with best buy (get some cofffee you will be up for awhile)!

Yes I HATE those guys!

Brand new video camera - bought it three weeks before Christmas for a gift; had it wrapped. It was a brick! They wouldn't take it back because I had bought it more than 14 days ago! It was for a gift!

It wasn;t opened until Christmas - a week after the return policy ran out!

I bought a toshiba 50" tv from them (i got the extended warranty too). 3 years later the tv broke, they said they will fix it. So I waited 90 days (that's 90 days without my big screen) for parts that never arrived. Finally they said they will replace the tv, and I waited another 30 days for that replacement.

I will never buy anything "expensive" from Best Buy again.

My belief has always been that if your product is defective and purchased at Best Buy.. You are to bring the product back to the store where you bought it from and they will exchange the item at no cost to you .. I purchased a 42" TV at Best Buy and this was how they handled it for me..
And I am very satisfied with the way they handled my problem.. I will continue to purchase merchandise from Best Buy..
