Just few months back there was a major road accident in which around 20 to 30 lives were lost and there was no coverage except for a small article on one national paper. We are very good INDIANS with no anti India movements of any kind. We are the corridor for trade with China and our proximity to Calcutta, I think justifies media here. With the presence of strong media many evels of the society could be got rid of. With so many travellers comming here I think we should be included in the news. We shouldn't be neglected the way we are right now. This trend could be the eye opener for many big things for all of us(you).

i agree. can u imagine, the CBSE Class 10 textbook geography never refers to the word Nagaland! i think that except for Assam and WB, all states in the north east are ignored. u r right by raising this issue. Sikkim, though it does not have any long historical ties with India or the nationalist movement, is a part of the Republic, and we must embrace it for being so.
BTW, i don't thing the media ignores everything in Sikkim. after all, i saw the finals of MTV Roadies 4 being held in Gangtok! let me tell u, ur state should be competing with Himachal Pradesh as far as tourism goes!

You are correct. There is very little media coverage of Sikkim and other north eastern part of the country except for Assam, Manipur and Nagaland.
I was recently thinking about very poor coverage of my city in tamilnadu except for a few political events. While I get to see hours and hours of analysis of Delhi University elections or NCERT exams in prime news channels. The reason is most of the news channels all are based out of Delhi. Though print media is not that way.
We need new channels, print media from different regions of the country beaming out news and info from their perspective both local and national events.
We as individuals can also contribute to this in the on-line space in whatever small way.
I was considering an on-line brainstorming blog community to chart out a development plan for my city...Just an idea for starters..

As told to me in my school people from sikkim or the north east do not consider themselves as indians they do not care about bollywood or cricket there is more of football which is not very popular no ad posters with SRK or tendulkar are put up.This is a fact. One more instance when we go to U.S we fill up a form same here when we travel to particular places in the N-E we are to fill these forms! I think the media knows this very well and dosnt give much importance to them.........

that's a handy slogan trotted out via feminist clones who won't be in a position to look to return up with any unique arguments. that's suitable to boil the subject all the way down to "my physique my selection" if a woman is pondering a piercing or tattoo. whilst the female is pregnant, that's no longer suitable. the subject isn't despite if we would desire to constantly regulate a woman's amazing to p.c.. we are in a position to and already do. case in point, even the main ardent abortion rights propose generally concurs that abortions could in trouble-free terms happen interior the 0.33 trimester if the female's well-being is in possibility. Why? via fact it is not basically the female's physique. it is the unborn youngster's physique too. Slogans aside, the only actual difficulty is whilst and how lots we would desire to constantly regulate women human beings's amazing to terminate the being pregnant.

It is a very small state and of little strategic importance. It has no unique industrial base. It has no great and significant educational institution. It is only a tribal state of 22 tribes all fighting amongst themselves and so no significant development takes place. Tourism is there but routes are difficult and so , it is very inconvenient and extremely expensive. Tourists feel badly looted. Cows beef is generally eaten by tribes so, Hindu's sentiments are badly hurt. Proper Indian foods are difficult to get.

Sorry I was not aware about that but if you are writing that it is really not good. The all states of India should be given equal previledge by the media. This is really shameful if it had been done deliberately.
