In my opinion , money is and can be an addiction the same as drugs alcohol , cigarettes, ect. Some people just don't get enough. No money isn't everything , but for some it is their everything. It is the root of all evil the saying goes, but unfortunately we need it to some extent to live and survive.

That is a good question. I'm glad you asked it. I have personally never been able to find an answer. Greed is somehow so deeply ingrained in our culture that people never stop to think of the poverty overseas (much of it _caused_ by American companies who refuse to pay foreign workers what they deserve).
Just imagine ... if for every piece of dust-collecting junk or every piece of massively overpriced brand-new furniture or every new car or pair of $100 brand-name jeans (when jeans can be gotten at Goodwill for $5), if the person would instead buy used and donate the money s/he would have otherwise wasted to a good cause, the world would be a far better place.
People are selfish. They imagine they know the "best" way to spend their money; they want to keep money in the family, they mistakenly think they "earn" their money when it is in fact assigned nearly arbitrarily for different jobs. (Is a doctor's life-saving abilities really worth so much more than a firefighter's or even an emergency medical technician's? It would seem so, since doctors are paid about five times more than everyone else.)

You can barely do anything without money, but you can't do everything with money. The thing is in a materialistic age, money is a large part of it. You can never have enough money, for people are greedy and they will always want more. even Bill Gates doesn't have enough money. Also because you became rich you live rich, have a good house, a housekeeper, good food, etc. and all that is expensive, so you will then need more money to sustain your own lifestyle. In the asain culture we burn "Paper money" gold colored paper, for our ancestors to use in heaven.

For most humans money is everything in life. Definitely we cannot take money to heaven, but it can buy a lot of luxuries, convenience and happiness.
Human greed is unlimited, they always crave for more money, though they have no place to keep it. Even if a man wins all the money in the world, still he does'nt rest, he needs more.

Each person is taunghted with a "Wrong Doing", "Addiction", "Vice", and/or sin.
As with all of these, people tend to take baby steps into over indulging. Some have the weakness for flesh, others have the weakness for substances (drugs, alcohal, pain pills), some are glutonious (eat too much, or starve themselves to death), and others are vain (to name a few). Wealth can too follow the same pattern of addiction.
Most people can have a beer, and this won't consume them. However, an alcoholic will have a beer and go binge drinking. Money can have the same intoxicating effects on people.

Rich folks crave money because they consider Wealth to be the most import thing in life right now. But Money cannot buy hap pines, nor can it buy good health.
We brought nothing into this World, and will carry nothing out.

If you are after money or if your goal is to become rich, you will go on earning more and more money without an endpoint in sight. At every point of time you will find it necessary to earn more to maintain the existing standard of life. You can also say that it is an addiction

When can you call Enough, Enough?
We all work towards our dreams, our goals, our mission our livelihood etc. And, somehow we never stop to reach there!
We are so lost in this journey, do we really realise if we have reach our so called dream, goals, mission etc...
Well, certainly we cannot carry anything with us. For, we came empty handed and will go the same way.
When do we call Enough, really Enough? Its only a matter single moment in a life time, we take a pause for oneself, think about it and say, Is it enough? I think we are lost in time, some don't even know how to get back.

It's the basic concept of human, we can never get enough of anything, don't deny it, sometimes it's not as significant as other times, but who could honestly say that they never envy other people's belongings. and just so happen our society was built upon money, and that makes it more valuable then other material possessions. and no, in my opinion, we take only our soul with us when we die... if we can take any money, why can't we just have an everlasting life or take our bodies with us...
