My son did the same around 6 months. He went for two weeks without eating his solids and only drank milk. Then all of a sudden he was eating them again. You can try different things if you think he may eat them, but he should be fine as long as he is eating something. This was also when he got his first two teeth, so your son may be teething, and once they come in, his appetite will return. Mashed potatoes should be O.K. as long as they don't have butter, salt, ect.
*For those who claim babies don't NEED solids, if you do your research and ask any pediatrition they will tell you that babies need more calories and iron around 6 months that they do not give from exclusively breastfeeding or formula. While a baby CAN survive on breastmilk/formula, they still need the extra nutrition that milk doesn't provide.

If he wants milk, then give it to him :) They don't "need" food at that age, it's just for social reasons anyway. Milk is nutritionally all they need till 12 mos! Esp. breastmilk. It's best! He could be growing, so just let him nurse when hungry, and try the food next month if you want.

5 months no need for solids but if you must try mashed sweet potatoes, not white potatoes try baby rice cereal, but it really is not necessary for him to eat solids now, most doctors would agree it's too soon

All my seven month old nephew wants to eat is formula or food from someone Else's plate, or veggie puffs. Try feeding him to potatoes off of your plate and yes you can use your milk. If that is all he wants to eat it is okay just keep trying food. it is not abnormal. try blending veggies and fruits that we would eat in your blender. They have a little more flavor.

I guess it's what he's use to. I would try your milk in with the potatoes and see what he does. It's not going to hurt him

You can, but as someone else said, he doesn't need it. All babies up to 12 months need is Mama's milk. Offer daily, and if he doesn't want it, don't sweat it. :)
