I think people who dislike animals are cold at best, and VERY disturbed at worst. I mean, how could you NOT love cats, dogs, and other sorts of animals?
People who don't like dogs are soooo strange. "Oh no! That ANIMAL is going to jump up on me!" Well, yeah, that's what dogs do! Play with him/her!
People who don't like cats are siiiiiiick. How could you not adore these purring individualists? They're awesome little people!
My stepmother is an animal-hater. She refers to animals as "its", and would never have a pet because of the "mess" they make.
The sad thing is, my dad loves animals, but because Miss Ice Princess doesn't allow animals in the house, they don't have any.
No wonder I don't visit very often!
Face it, if you don't love animals, you're a very cold person!

In general, I agree with you. In fact, it's widely understood that the sociopaths and psychopaths who go on to terrorize humans are the extreme end of animal haters; they not only see them as objects but often use them as toys in the sense of experimenting on them and intentionally inflicting pain upon them.
One side note: up 'til perhaps the late '50s, I think many people were raised to see it as 'dirty' to have pets and didn't 'bond' with them because of it. (That, and some of them were taught also that the responsibility factors of time were a nuisance...) In the cases of such people, it isn't so much about their nature (=lack of warmth) as it is that they never had the opportunity to see pets/animals in a different way.
Remember, it wasn't so long ago that people raised animals almost purely for their own, er, farming, so it was a jump for more of them to 'welcome' four-legged friends inside (with no opportunity to take their shoes off or otherwise be more clean/dainty in the prized well-kempt, disease-minimized house).

No, but I am saddened for them. I always wonder why on earth they would hate this animal or that. A lot of people have never had the opportunity to be loved by an animal. If they ever get that priviledge they won't hate animals any more.
Because some have never been close to the animals (dogs, cats) they are afraid, or do not know the level of that bond that forms.
I had a friend actually a married couple who hated dogs. They would bag dog poop up and take it back to whomever's dog it was that used their yard for a toilett. Then, a few years passed (still our neighbors), and they joined a seeing eye dog program where they foster the puppy until it is of age for training. The first one failed, and they had become so attatched they adopted the pup, and another, and another, until they had 4 dogs (3 of which were labs) in a small house.
They weren't cold, just hurting people.

The only reason I can think of that a decent person would not like animals would be if they were literally afraid of them. Maybe she was attacked or something? I don't know. But, I'm like you in that my first instinct is to distrust those who hate pets. They are God's creatures and He made them for mankind. We should respect His gift and love, care for, and nurture them. lol.....I've always loved animals....but some people were raised like that I guess. Some man/woman who is reading your question could be saying, "I hate those freaking distructions of nature!" But, I agree with you, partly. Animals have feelings and child abuse is just as bad as animal abuse. So, it bit you, stupid old lady who lives on my street, GET A RABIES SHOT AND GET OVER IT FOR GOD'S SAKE! I mean obviously she did something to make it angry. I dont neccessarily distrust them, I just need to take them to court when they starve a pet.

just because some people don't like animals doesn't make them evil and cruel. some people are just afraid! i used to be scared of dogs until a couple years ago because i never had any real pets growing up so i didn't know what to do!!
my mom used to have 3 dogs when she was growing up, but she doesn't want one now either because she's busy at work during the day, so she wouldn't be able to walk it or clean up after it!
unless you, personally, are the one who cleans up after your dog, i don't think you should criticize others. you're just as bad. it's not like your stepmom goes out and kicks animals around. don't be so harsh.

No because I think you are supposed to love all of Gods creation. If someone is THAT picky with animals then I don't want them around me either. I love animals and no one is going to change my mind.

Wow! Not all people hate animals just because they are animals. People may not like them because of allergies or asthma conditions. As for not trusting these people, that's just ridiculous.

I agree, i am an animal lover. When i see somebody being cruel to an animal but even if they are nice to me i cant be nice to them i just cant and i hate them sooooooo much!! UGH
