I can see where the confusion is coming from. Abreu is a former late fist round pick. He is still good but his talent is diminishing quickly. At best he is a third to fifth round pick in a standard 10 team league. Wells is in his prime and might of had his best year last year it will be hard to top it but very possible. The one constant is wells has done nothing but get better while Abreu stats have been falling the past couple of seasons. Personally i would go with Wells hes younger and has much more potential.
Bonderman is a good pitcher on a good ball club and Webb is a great pitcher on a pretty bad ball club. I still think Webb's talent trumps Bonderman. Webb will give you great numbers with a modest amount of wins maybe 12-15 depending on how the team produces runs for him. Bonderman will have so so number with a bunch of wins due to the offense on the Tigers team. I go Webb as he is better overall but don't look for him to repeat as the best in the NL.

You'd be wise to keep Abreu and Bonderman.
Abreu will benefit from an entire season hitting in the 3-hole in that powerful Yankees lineup. His SB numbers may go down a bit, but I'd still expect him to swipe 20+ bags and drive in over 100 runs. With Giambi/A-Rod/Matsui hitting behind him you can count on 100+ runs as well. In addition he's going to hit in the .300-range and although most of his power-stroke seems to have disappeared the short right-field porch in Yankee stadium could be all he needs to rekindle it.
Wells had the best season of his career last year and I'd expect him to regress a bit in 2007. Not that he isn't still a top flight player, but his career numbers compared to Abreu's and weighted against each man's surrounding line-up makes Abreu the obvious choice for me on that this one.
As far as pitcher's go, Bonderman seems like a safer bet. He has been making huge strides the past few seasons and has a darkhorse shot at becoming the AL Cy Young winner in 2007. I know that may seem far-fetched, but I seriously feel he has some incredible talent and benefits from a solid defensive core and a great pitcher's ballpark. Let's not forget that the addition of Gary Sheffield offers additional offensive back-up.
Webb is a great pitcher and clearly a staff ace, but you have to take into a account that last year was a huge spike for him in terms of development. He has often struggled with injury issues which could come back to haunt him at any time. On the same accord many of the veterans from the D-Backs roster are gone and have been replaced by an outstanding core of exciting rookies. Everyone knows that rookies have a tendency to struggle both offensively and defensively in their first full season in the show. It's possible a few struggles along the way from the young D-Backs core could cost Webb a few games and maybe some unearned runs. Plus Arizona is clearly a rough park for pitchers...another factor I like to consider.
So in the end (after a long-winded rant) I'd say stick with Abreu and Bonderman for the best bet. I feel that come October you'll be happy you made that choice.

Offensively I always look at who fills more offensive categories
HR RBI Runs SB
Abreu .297 15 107 98 30
Wells .303 32 106 91 17
Wells has better power but Abreu is better on the paths....what stat can you afford to sacrifice? As for Bonderman and Webb..>Webb plays on a very sorry Diamondback team....he wont get as many win oppurtunities as Bonderman will with Detroit.

Go with Bobby Abreu and Brandon Webb.
The simple answer is...
They go sooner in a scratch draft than the other two do.
Abreu is the only outfielder over the past 3 seasons with 100 RBI and 30 SB. That is a rare combination of power and speed. His HR should go up this year to about 23 HR. Abreu should outhit Wells in every category except the HR.
Webb is the better pitcher across the board for pitching except for the K's.
Go with the easy choices in Webb and Abreu.

I would keep Brandon Wedd and Vernon Wells. Papi gives you power, so Wells will give you speed and more power. Webb is a good young starter, that gets many Ks and Wins each year.
