depends, now are you asking one on one, or as a team?

as a team, it's definetly Nash.
as an individual, it's Kobe.

Nash provides opening up the floor with his passing, and the ability to shoot, and the opponents if they double team, in w/c case they hardly ever double Nash, Nash is more likely to pass and find the open guy. but even when Nash isnt double teamed, he's still able to get an assist.

Kobe, he also provides opening up the floor, but Kobe if he's double teamed, he'll most likely drive to the bucket or, he'll try to shoot over both defenders. and not likely to pass.

now if Nash and Kobe were to play one on one, Kobe win over Nash.

another scenerio, if Nash and Kobe were on the same team?
wow, would that ever be a show... think about it... Kobe the shooter/high flyer, and Nash see's the court better than most players. Kobe would probably have an average of 40ppg with Nash probably around 15 apg.

Nash is one great team player, and Kobe knows how to score, w/c makes him a great Individual player.

So who's better?

Nash as a play maker
Kobe as an individual

so they're both great at what they do on the court.

Look. Let's throw out this argument about making teammates "better" as the sole determining factor.

Nash will obviously win that. As the initiator of the offense, and the dominant ball handler/distributor, he's obviously going to win that. He's a point guard, and the role of a classic point guard is to distribute the ball and to increase the fluidity of the team. Nash fills this role better than anyone in the NBA.

The role of the shooting guard is to, well, shoot. Kobe shoots well. He can score. He fills his role better than anyone in the NBA at his position.

Both players extend a little outside their positional responsibilities too. Nash scores a fair bit per game. Kobe gets a reasonable amount of assists per game. Both are about equal in their overlaps.

Now, on to defense. Kobe plays defense. Steve Nash doesn't play defense as well. While each may be premier players on the offensive end in their respective positions, Kobe wins in this category. Nash doesn't even get a steal per game.

Therefore, each is the best in their respective positions on offense, but due to Nash's defensive liabilities, Kobe wins.

Kobe Bryant is the better basketball player...
1) when he had Shaq he won 3 championships, when Nash had Dirk he couldn't make it to the finals, and cant make it now with Amare and Marion.(Both are class A players) and if Kobe had Amare and Marion his team would win the Finals
2) For Nash to be good he needs good players around him, Kobe took LA to the Playoffs by himslef.(you said best player not team player)
3)Nash does the easiest thing on the basketball court, run up the court and pass it to 50% 3pt shooters, and guys with 45inch verticals, Kobe does the hardest thing, score from anywhere, however he wants, and scores the CLUTCH game winners
4)Basketball involves defence...Nash can't defend, Kobe can shut players down if he wants to.
5) LeBron James said it on live television and I quote "Kobe is the best player in the NBA" he said it during the Cavs vs Lakers game on ABC during the weekend.
6) Kobe cares more about winning than anyone on the court including Nash

Finally, the feud will not end unless the 2 players switch places and play with the other players and see how the teams do then (Kobe would win a ring with those guys, while Nash wouldn't even make the playoffs with those Lakers...yea Nash can make Turiaf and Cook and Bynum amazing...SURRRRREEE!!!

KOBE is better all around player. He is the BETTER and BEST basketball player in the World, think of it him and shaq hated each other but they wanted to win so they did!!!!!

BTW Habibi...Nash averages more TO than Kobe

Steve Nash makes EVERYONE amazing - raja bell, leandro barbosa, shawn marion, amare stoudemire, boris diaw- a couple of these guys would be no-names without him. his field goal percentages are higher, his assist total is much higher, while comitting less turnovers and going further into the playoffs every year. Kobe has proven unable to lead the Lakers without Shaq
