The first rock song i heard "growing up in a house dominated by country music" was black diamond way back in 1975, i was 6 yrs. old. the way it starts out w/ that beautiful melody than just kicks you right in the sack, I gotta' tell ya that day was one that changed my life forever. all i could think about was , i've got to get a guitar and learn to be Ace. I like to play those songs because they are simple yet dynamic at the same time. he was and still is a big influence on my playing .

I think he is great, maybe not the greatest guitarist, but one of the greatest of course he is. He was the best guitarist that KISS have ever had. And I'd say he is one of the 50 greatest guitarist that the world have ever had.
And if someone thinks that he is not, it's probably because that person never saw him in action performing in a concert.

Hell YES! He influenced more of metal's rockers than anyone!. Just because someone who doesn't have their nose and tongue pierced doesn't get it, doesn't mean we musicians don't owe a debt to the great ones. Ace can do in 1 note what most of todays "rockers" have never done....solo!

No. Good showman, decent skills for what he needed, enough energy, but all in all, no greatness in his guitar playing alone.
