Even more ancient China.
Actually there were nomadic hunter-gatherer tribes and that's about all there was, rather like maybe primitive variants of the Aborigines of the outback of Australia or the steppe of Russia or even current Mongolian steppe culture.
The Chinese floodplain is considered one of the central discovery points of agriculture, which was apparently independently developed only 4 times in human history.
1. Mesopotamia about 9000 and then again about 7000 years ago.
2. Egypt at approximately 7000 years ago
3. China approximately 5000 years ago
4. Central America, aproximately 3000 years ago.
It is also one of only 3 places where writing was developed as a form of literary communication - writing rather than pictures.
Writing was invented/developed only three times, once in the Indo-European theater (in pre-historic times it was non-independently reinvented several times in similar variation).
China - Writing developed as an abstracted shorthand of pictograms.
Central America - the iconography of the Americas is unlike either of these two previous systems part mathematical form, part story/metaphor,part iconograph/pictograph and part letter.
It is not completely understood to this day.
