Americans probably waste enough food to feed a third world country. If ONLY the Soviet block nations farmed as efficiently as American farms, there would be plenty of food for all. If we wasted less fresh water it would be even better. The politics of overpopulation is a sham. There are plenty of resources.

YEs there is enough food to feed people and its not theoretical. I think United States alone can feed the current world population. Its economics and politics that causes starvation. Its cheaper to buy AMerican wheat than for most countries to grow their own. THe problem is that we are able to grow so much food, because of all the oil products we use. Fertilizers, pesticides, tractors to name a few. When we run out of oil, then the question is how are we going to conitnue growing this much food. One of the solution is genetics, so we don't need to fertilize so much and don't need to use so much pesticides. I hate geneticly modified food though.

No at all. If everyone in this world had the life standard of any of the G8 countries, (4)Four planet Earth would be required to supply food and commodities.

Are you kidding? At the restaurant where I work at we have to throw away trash bags filled with ether half eaten food from picky people who only take a bite, didn't touch their food again, or where over 90% of the food is intact. I always joke around that the amount of food we throw away is enough to feed a small country.

Yes. The problem is the standard-issue human selfishness getting in the way.
