Trane makes some good furnaces and have warranties included. The Trane XV80 is 80% efficient and will last for a long time. Change the filters often and have the unit cleaned and check yearly. Your Trane dealer may offer a service plan that includes cleaning, checking and tuning. It makes sense to purchae the plan.
If you do not maintain the unit, the life span will be shorter. Its like a car, change the oil and filter every 3-4000 miles and the cars run great. Start skipping oil changes and the cars began to have issues.

If you change the filter in the furnace every 3 to 4 months then a general overhaul every 2 years should do it. The biggest problem is with the pilot light, it will clog up over time if not maintained. Keeping the furnace maintained properly is a necessity. No sense running the risk of being "left in the cold" or worse having a house fire.

If you have pets that shed, it wouldn't hurt to have it cleaned every other year. However, if you are changing the filter on a regular schedule, you could go much longer than that - once every five years.

The key is keeping the A-coil clean. This is located in the plenum above the furnace.

lots relies upon on what you could locate the money for. i elect to propose a pre season verify up. A sparkling burning furnace will require little or no cleansing. Many agencies grant pre season verify up's at a redused fee. beware of very low expenses for the verify up. the organization can not make a earnings at that fee. i'm able to assure they are going to locate some thing incorrect or grant a provider you do no longer want. Ask acquaintances or pals who they use. it is greater effective than taking your possibilities with the telephone e book. yet another little bit of advice. in case you could, watch them yet save quiet. in the event that they do no longer elect you to observe, call somebody else the subsequent time.

If the warranty isn't up on it yet-get it looked at. Regardless, it should be checked and cleaned annually. Sounds like it's time. Take care.

Once a year should do it. If you have oil heat then the oil company provides that as a free service if you get standard service coverage.
