i got my period on sat, its been pretty heavy, i have had to change my pad about 5 times a day. others have been saying that their first period was light and i've read things that said that the first period is light and you should be able to catch it. My period is pretty heavy, even my mom said so. is this normal?

Just roll with it sweetie, if this is your first period, you don't know what is normal for you and that is what matters. Truth is, every woman's body is different so what is normal for you might be weird for someone else. Once you get on a schedule and find out what your typical period is like, you want to be more concerned if things are out of the ordinary for YOU.

Also a tidbit, maybe no one told you this:

Your periods only come from one of your two ovaries at a time. They usually switch back and forth. So you might be heavy every other month, light every other month, you might have cramps, or get sick feeling every other month and feel fine in between. It all starts to paint a picture of your "normal" cycle which can take a while to reveal itself.

Mine were like that and evened out over the years to be more consistent every month. My first period was a big mess and I was sick as a dog the whole time, like I had the flu! The next month was fine, then sick, then fine. I missed a lot of school that year.

As a responsible young woman, you want to keep track of your periods carefully for at least a year. Keep track of the days they start, how long, other symptoms, what you take, how it works, how you feel emotionally etc. Just keep a small calender or diary about it and keep it private, share with your parents if needed, and your doctor when you have your checkups. They also ALWAYS want to know the first day of your last period. I don't even know why...but it's easier to just be able to tell them so bring your diary with you. You will also want to keep doing this if you ever become sexually active, and if you ever start trying to have a baby.

Welcome to the grown up world baby! Isn't it a blast??

There is most likely not anything incorrect with you. From private enjoy, I've determined that after I use tampons, my waft is way lighter and it does not even look like I have it that badly. Don't think on my own. Just difference your pad or tampon extra normally in order that it does no longer leak. I could endorse utilizing Pads: "Always" skinny, outstanding lengthy with wings Tampons: Playtex Sport or Gentle Glide constant or outstanding measurement Good good fortune!

Since your period is heavy be sure you are wearing a super pad and not a regular one. When you have a heavy period you need to be sure you are using the proper absobency pad.

The first time I got my period, it was pretty normal, but then again, I got it before that and didn't even realize what it was. It was really light before that. Maybe you've bled so little before that you didn't even realize it?
