To get to KL,
1) It's S$30-40 from Singapore to KL (u can get tickets from local tour agencies) or cheaper alternative (cross to Malaysia and take bus from there, it will be half the price from Singapore):
2) Take bus to Kranji MRT, take bus 170 or any bus to cross the border to JB, and buy bus tickets from the shopping centre near to the JB immigration side (just walk there, no need to take bus)
3) Take bus to Kranji MRT, take bus 170 or any bus to cross the border to Larkin bus station. Then there are many many bus counters there for u to take ur pick and buy tickets to go KL. After u get ur tickets (not sure if there are 2-way tickets, i always buy 1-way), just wait for bus to come.
To return from KL, go to the KL bus station (there is only 1 major bus station there) and buy tickets to go back as soon as u arrive in KL. There are many ticket counters there just like Larkin, and u can take ur pick. But tickets will be tight and disappear fast close to weekend or peak.
U can choose to take bus to Larkin or JB or Singapore.
In any case, return from KL will be in RM. The price is about RM30-40. So it IS half price to travel back compared to the tickets to KL if u bought 'to KL' bus tickets from Singapore.
Journey time is about 5hrs from Singapore to KL. U get 1 rest stop where there are lots of food to eat in a canteen-like place in the middle of nowhere...hehe. Rest stop is about 30-40 min i think.
I always have a great time travelling on the buses! Choose a 20-plus seater bus, and preferably travel at night, u can sleep through the ride.
