6 more quarters than dimes
2 more quarters than pennies
$3.70 total (quarter worth .25, dimes .10, pennies .01)

let q be your number of quarters
p the number of pennies and
d the number of dimes.

d= q-6
p = q-2

.25q + .10(q-6) + .01(q-2) = 3.70
.25q + .10q +.01q -.60 - .02 = 3.70
.36q - .62 = 3.70
.36q = 4.32
q = 12

d= q-6
d= 12-6
d= 6

p = q-2
p = 12-2
p = 10

q= 12 d = 6 p =10
12 quarters, 6 dimes, 10 pennies

check to see if it works

12*.25+6*.10+.10 = 3.70

.25q + .10d + .01p = 3.70
25q + 10d + p = 370

q = d + 6
d = q - 6

q = p + 2
p = q - 2

25q + 10(q - 6) + (q - 2) = 370
25q + 10q - 60 + q - 2 = 370
36q - 62 = 370
36q = 432
q = 12

d = 12 - 6 = 6
p = 12 - 2 = 10

ANS :
12 quarters, 6 dimes, 10 pennies
