I have seen alot of non muslim eating at this establishment and wondering what they ate before they come to this restaurant? My friend ate the delicious pork rib soup and came over to have a muslim desserts and using the utensils provided by the halal restaurant. I believe he have some meat stuck in between his teeth and he is using the spoon to gulp hs dessert.

Actually I confused with your question, can I answer like this?
Halal is an Arabic term meaning "permissible". Which mean it don’t refer only for food and beverage. For example, to have sex; halal way by marrying someone the have sex. So, if we want to discuss about halal, we need to understand at least a little about Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh). We Muslim can't consume pork but if there is no other food for 3 - 4 days... finally we found a pork. so in that case, pork is halal because we need to eat to save our life.
But your question is about someone eat pork then eat at halal restaurant, so, what is the condition of the utensil. Let say someone give a food to me, without thinking I eat. Actually, I eat a food mix with pork. Because I don't know that food have pork mixture so it OK. unless he say this pork, do want some?
So, the utensil is halal to use by Muslim because they don't know what happen to that utensil before they use.
If you ask about halal restaurant in Asia, I’ve no idea. But I in Malaysia, we have full confident toward all restaurants with HALAL logo. Restaurant owner can’t simply stamp this logo in front their outlet. They need approval from Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) a governmental department who has the only right to produce this logo.
However, if we can’t find this logo at small restaurant or stall. So, we need to ask people around or the owner of that restaurant.

okay, cakebread.
How do you know the pork rib suop was delicious? Did you taste it?
I guess you're a moslem. but please don't go around sending wrong signs about our religion. You must be the type of person who even refuses to handshake a non-moslem. So tell me how did the Prophet Mohammed get Islam to almost 3/4 of globe without being considerate with other cultures? Get out of your tiny shell man!!!
The reason we aren't supposed to eat pork is never clear. It could be because pork isn't hygene or has alot of diseases in them (which is not all true, depends on how they are raised). Or if you want to think further it just could be that, God is saving pigs from extinction. Because who knows there might come up a pandemic that can only be cured by pig litter.
if the restaurant declares itself Halal (or a 'restaurant' even) they should already know the obligations of keeping their utensils clean and sterile. If you still want to make a big fuss about it, grow your own food, cut your livestock in the name of God and eat in your own premises.

Halal simply means the restaurants doesn't serve any pork for starters. In addition, the animals that are used for preparing the food must be slaughtered the 'halal' way. (must not die in pain, blood let drained back to the soil... etc etc) The restaurants usually have a halal certified sticker or some sort to ensure the consumers.
Therefore, it doenst affect the 'HALAL' label if you have a non-halal food eating friend who happen to bring a part of the 'fun' in the restaurant.

Tung-Kru District of Bangkok has a large muslim population with over 60% of the people being muslims. I used to live in this area and you will find many halal restaurants in this area on and off Prachautid Road starting about soi 60 and up. But of course Tung-Kru district is on the outskirts of Bangkok and not located in the tourist area of Bangkok.
