I quote this from an article on yahoo...
The Dixie Chicks peaked at No. 36 on the Billboard country charts with "Not Ready to Make Nice." That ought to disqualify them from winning best country album, said Jacobs, the Alabama radio station owner.
"How do you win country music album of the year, when country music radio is not playing you?" he said.
I asked the same question when they won. Their win is obviously politically influenced. I have never heard any of the songs from their album and I am an avid radio listener.

They earned those awards. Carrie Underwood sucks. She doesn't have a presence on stage and she shows no feelings no matter what song she is singing. I can't wait until she falls. She needs to go back home and go though some hard times before because she had to much of a charmed life. The album sucks. I heard it. It is a 1 on a 10 point scale. The Dixie Chicks are much better.

Dramaqueen, you and the radio DJ you quoted from that Yahoo article, and ALL the so-called country music fans out there, and I'd say like 75% of the general public, need your Grammy education.
I quote the following from the Grammy website: The recording industry's most prestigious award, the GRAMMY, is presented annually by The Recording Academy. A GRAMMY is awarded by The Recording Academy's voting membership to honor excellence in the recording arts and sciences. It is truly a peer honor, awarded by and to artists and technical professionals for artistic or technical achievement, not sales or chart positions.
Let me repeat that, since I know all you DC haters have short attention spans and only hear what you want to hear: It is awarded BY AND TO ARTISTS and technical professionals for ARTISIC OR TECHNICAL ACHIEVEMENT, NOT SALES or CHART POSITIONS!!!
The Chicks were ousted by country radio for having an opinion. This is America. Land of the free, home of the brave. Freedom of speech is one of our basic rights. To stop liking someone for simply having a different opinion is just down right stupid, and UN-AMERICAN!!!!!
To have been hated by so many and to come back, make an amazing new album, still get radio play (although, not on country radio), and to be awarded with FIVE Grammys is an amazing feat. I loved DC before the controversy, and I love them still. In my opinion, they deserved the recognition they received on Sunday night.
But apparently, having an opinion here in America is a means for ousting, so I guess I should hush, right?

Another example of the power of music and the written word. The Chicks.
Once again, Hollywood hath spoken.
They have now been stripped of their rebellious quality.
They and their message express the anger and frustration of many mainstream Americans. Their treatment by the powers that be made them even angrier and they made that last defiant album.
Only now America has changed regarding the war. People know they might have been on to something as they see their civil rights being methodically stripped away. The Chicks won big. They are accepted and can become mainstream again. They will most likely lose much of their edge and influence.
Maybe not. I really hope that the answer is not.

i think of what she meant is the human beings who rely have voted. The Grammys are a lots bigger esteemed award than the CMAs, the human beings's decision Awards, and all those different bull crap awards exhibits that are consistently on mixed. Ask any musician which award they elect the main, they might help be conscious of, it is the GRAMMY! via the way, to those of you who don't be conscious of, the recording marketplace's maximum prestigious award, the GRAMMY, is equipped each year via The Recording Academy. A GRAMMY is offered via The Recording Academy's balloting club to honor excellence interior the recording arts and sciences. that's certainly a PEER HONOR, offered via and to artists and technical experts FOR ARTISIC OR TECHNICAL success, no longer sales or chart positions.

Yeah, it's totally political, but man, do I enjoy thinking how pissed of the bush & the dick must be... the sooner they die from heart attacks (or alcoholism, in the bush's case), the better the world will be.
