Here's some that might work:
CTSH, AAPL, KSS, JWN, GG, GLD

They are technology, clothing, and gold companys (and ETF)

TM would be good for a car company

I highly recommend CTSH. I own it and it has done well. In the past 10 years it's up 9,000%

Here's a suggestion and the reason for it. If you invest in one stock, invest in another that will cover the first if it doesn't do well. The example in class was stock in some beach stuff and then stock in an umbrella company. Rain or shine you win. I thought it was a stupid example and a good way to get only one winner but the professor thought it was great. I suggest WalMart. It's a deadly company that keeps up with the times. They are so huge and buy at such a rate they now dictate to Chinese companies what they will build and what Walmart will pay for it. That's what they used to do in Bentonville to American companies when they used to advertise everything was made in America. They will make a profit. They move into areas and put the smaller stores out of business because they can underprice and then they get the whole market. Their stock is continually on the rise. There's a great movie on PBS about all of this. Stay away from American car companies. They are in deep dodo. Although I did see something in the last couple of days that GM is in the salinization plant business-taking the salt out of salt water. I live in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas and the shortage of fresh water is acute in this part of the land. As the population increases there will be bigger and bigger demands for fresh water. Hope this helps. . .

Hi,

have a look at this page, which will tell you how to find the best performing stocks and mutual funds.

I can tell you about good stocks, but there is no telling when these stocks will go up... how much time do you have to show a profit? A good stock for profits within hours or days will be different than a good stock for profits in weeks.
