I watch show lke 24, and just tonight: James Cromwell, Powers Boothe, to name just a couple are stars on it.

I hardly ever see Powers in a movie.. In fact i could list his filmography of known movies on two hands (barely over 1 hand).

but my question is this.

when i was growing up you started out on tv or theatre then got noticed and got into hollywood.

Now we see hollywood going on tv.

are people too desperate for money?

If I understand your question correctly, by "Hollywood", you mean feature films, as opposed to TV and theater, yes? And that now you're seeing more and more film actors popping up on television? I can't say that people are too desperate for money, but the entire idea behind being an actor is to WORK. Seeing film actors on TV doesn't mean they are lowering their standards, it just means that maybe they aren't getting any good offers at the moment, and it's always better to remain in the public eye. Our pensions are also based on our income, so if we don't work, we hurt our future retirement. Plus many actors find it fun to dabble in different mediums - breaks up the monotony, and allows them to expand creatively.

I believe it's something like 99% of SAG actors do not make a living acting.

Plus you can get older less active actors for a lot less and you don't have to spend time and money developing them as you would young inexperienced actors.

Plus who in Hollywood is creative enough to do that to begin with?
