Does this person have to be alive?
If not, I would suggest Daniel Mendoza, 1764-1836.
Virtually the founder of scientific boxing.
Came from a poor family. Never hid his ethnicity: billed himself as Mendoza the Jew. Developed a sport that had just been brawling before. "In height about five feet seven inches, with a well-formed chest, strong arms, great courage, and good wind, Mendoza always contrived that his battles should be well contested. His advent was a new feature in the practice of boxing, and his style caused much discussion. There was more neatness than strength in his manner, his blows were deficient in force but given with astonishing quickness, and he struck oftener and stopped more dexterously than any other pugilist." The Champion in the late eighteenth-early nineteenth century - bare knuckles and an unlimited number of rounds. Gave young Jews in the slums something to be proud of.
And he's DIFFERENT from all those other intellectuals and businessmen type guys.

Lovely quotation. Brought tears to my eyes. Ben, you should be saying "was like that." Because now we say "Never Again" and the words are backed by action. Maybe the peace movement has issues of appeasement they don't recognize a threat or what to do about it but not everyone is like that that was older era. Israel is so strong now that she can defend herself and the diaspora against attacks and since the establishment of Israel America has been by her side. Thank G-d people have evolved from what it was like to live back then.

Reva P is right even though ome moron thumbed her down. If u want someone who means something to Judaism it can only be a great Rabbi. You can go to a library and look it up or use the internet I can give you 2 great names but you must research them on your own. Elijah (Eliyahu) ben Shlomo Zalman known as-Gaon of Vilna, Gaon mi Vilno, or Vilna Gaon, and Moses Maimonides known as Maimonides or Rambam. WIKIPEDIA has nice write ups on both. That should get you started.

Steven Spielberg doesn't mean much of anything to Judaism. To Hollywood, yes, but not to Judaism.
Considering the importance to whole huge groups of peoples of the first of his client groups, Brian Epstein. But again, his importance is to other groups.
Golda Meir's importance was to the State of Israel, not to the biblical concept of the Land of Israel. The same is true of all of the founders of the modern State of Israel.
Your question went on to state "means something to judaism". None of the names given to you by FressPrincess qualify.
You're going to have to go much farther back in history, AND you should be doing so at your local public library.

Why do you have to do a Jewish person? That sounds kind of racist. Does't your teacher know that Jews aren't the only ones who have done great things? I thought schools weren't allowed to preach religion.
