If you saw Pan's Labyrinth, do you think Ofelia was hallucinating the fantasy world or was it 'real'?

Ask yourself the same question. You saw her and you saw her shot and bleeding to death. Perhaps the soul goes on, I like to think so, but you are told right away that she spends too much time in fairytales.

So, how many times have you been approached by a faun? Probably far less than the kind of men you saw in the Fascist army in Spain. Far less.

I was disgusted and shaken by this movie. Then again, I was really tortured when I was in the Army. Maybe that has something to do with it.

I believe it depends on what you want to believe happened. I saw the movie with my dad, and since we have different outlooks on life we came to different conclusions. I believe that what Ofelia experienced was real, that she did die, but her soul returned to the underground kingdom. My proof being the changing of the labyrinth in the end when she is escaping her stepfather.

It was all fantasy...she created the world to help her deal with the evil she saw going on around her.
