first off you didnt verify which 2.0 you have the 2.0turbo 4g63 would be in a gsx,gs-t,or the gs-t spyder , and the GS and RS have the 420a.
if your car has the 420a like someone said before that the same engine as some of the older dodge/plymoth neons.Except i belive the heads are inverted (intake in front exhaust in back) to your style but the block should be the same and all the valve should be the same. But the rs/gs eclipses OR eagle talon ESI model will also have a 420a.
If your car IS turbo a gsx,gs-t,or gs-t spyder.then you have the world famous 4g63. Them engines are also eaisly found in a junk yard. Now there was a different variation of the same engine on the older models but alot of the parts can be exchanged with one another. If this engine referse to you , look for the following 1990-1994 plymoth laser ,eagle talon tsi , or eclipse gs turbo, or gsx OR any of the non turbo models with 6bolt 4g63's for the HEAD ONLY ENGINE BLOCK WILL NOT WORK UNLESS YOU DO THE ENTIRE SWAP.! it's slightly different in some ways but none you will notice trust me it will work.or for the 1995-1999 eclipse or 1995-1998 eagle talon tsi for the HEAD OR THE ENGINE!
there is a possibility all that is needed is head parts the pistons may be fine. unless you or somone else knows how and can help you do the work. for a shop to switch out head and timeing belt and shoot the timing and all will probly run $500-800 just for labor.
But if the work was done by you it would cost what ever parts and and thats really not alot ,considering you block im sure is fine.

All the timing belt does is keep your engine running in time. Everything has to preform at the right seconds. The belt is hooked to the pullies for each part. Your crank shaft, your camshafts, your oil pump and your alternator. Just because it breaks the engine is just going to go through the rotationds until it gets out of time. What you need to do is get the number one cylinder set to top dead center. Then make sure that the distributor is also set to top dead center. Then get the cams set as well. There should be a punch mark on hte pullies to help you with this, but a Haynes manual would deffinately help. I can see where you would be worried that the engine fired while the stroke was not ready. What you can do is take the heads off and look at the pistons. You could try to put a screw driver into each hole for the spark plugs and turn the crank see if the pistons go all the way to the top of the cylinder. If one doesn't go all the way up the piston rod may have broken. But your valves? They really can't be hurt by a timing belt breaking.

Because your engine is a DOHC, then more than likely you have valve and possible head damage. You will have to replace the belt, bent valves, and have the head reworked. This can get expensive.

i own a repair shop, and its going to cost at least a 125 bucks if a shop does this ,because they,ll have to check and see if it did any valve damage to it,id have it fixed if it didn't do any valve damage to it,if it did,you might want to think about it for a while, repairing it would cost more than getting a good used engine, and swapping them out, those engines are really expensive to repair, but you wont know anything until you get it checked,i hope it turns out ok for you on this one, good luck with it.

cuz it got mad, jk.
repair bills depend on if the engine is damaged
if engine is usable, then replace with a junkyard dodge/plymouth neon engine for cheap.
its worth fixing if the rest of the car is in perfect shape and has no problems.
