I just came home and found several items missing from my home and my garage lights were left on. I have a very good feeling that my teenage daughter's boyfriend (age 17) is the one who did it. The police don't seem helpful other than taking the report. Is there a way I can prove it? Fingerprinting? There are prints on my sports car. Can I demand a search of his house/car by the police? He does have a history of breaking and entering.

Sure you can prove it, just hire your own private investigator have him take fingerprint samples, then secretly collect the boyfriends fingerprints, pay a crime lab to do an analysis for you. Then if there is a match take your evidence to the cops. Other then that try dead bolting the door and if your daughter is letting him in then its not breaking and entering.

I don't think you can demand anything from the police. All you can do is report it.. and collect the insurance.. and keep the boyfriend out of your house in the future...

Unfortunately if the boyfriend has been in your house by permission then you cannot prove when the fingerprints were left.. so it won't matter where they are found.
